Terms of Service

These terms set out the basis on which you may use this website and the information and tools it contains. Please read them before relying on anything published here. They do not replace the terms agreed with any supplier you choose to instruct.

These terms govern your use of sludgeremoval.co.uk. By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

About this website

This website provides information about sludge removal, sludge disposal and related waste services.

We do not act as your agent, your waste contractor or your adviser. We do not control how a supplier performs work, what it charges or what documentation it issues. You are responsible for satisfying yourself that any supplier you use is suitable for the work, holds the permits and competencies the work requires, and can meet your duty of care obligations.

Enquiries and how they are handled

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit. Do not send information you are not entitled to share, and do not send personal data about other people unless you have a lawful basis to do so.

Information on this site

Guides, service pages and technical notes are written in general terms. Waste rules differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and they change. Local water company requirements, permit conditions and site-specific factors also vary. Nothing on this site is legal advice, regulatory approval or a substitute for checking the current position with the relevant regulator or water company.

Where we describe waste classification, we do not assign a definitive hazardous or non-hazardous classification from a material name alone. Classification depends on the actual composition of the material, its origin and the assessment carried out by a competent person. Where we describe dewatering, we do not suggest that removing water makes a waste non-hazardous. Where we describe waste acceptance criteria testing, we do not suggest that such testing replaces classification. Where we describe build-over or connection questions, we do not suggest that any checker or guidance gives permission; permission comes from the body that grants it.

Prices are not published because they depend on the material, volume, access, location, treatment route and documentation required. Any figure you see discussed anywhere on this site is illustrative of the factors involved, not a quotation. A real price requires a real quote based on your site and your waste.

Tools on this site

This site may include tools such as a sludge EWC code checker, a duty of care checklist tool and a build-over question builder. These tools are aids to thought and preparation. They are not regulatory certification, approval or a determination of your legal position.

The sludge checker produces candidate codes, possible contaminants and treatment options based on what you enter. It cannot know the true composition of your material, so its output is indicative only. The duty checker produces a nation-specific collection checklist. The build-over checker produces questions to put to your water company. Each tool allows printing or saving through your browser and can prefill an enquiry. None of them connects to a live register, a permitting database or a pricing database, and none of them decides anything on behalf of a regulator.

You remain responsible for the waste you produce, keep, carry, treat or dispose of. Under the waste duty of care, you must take reasonable steps to ensure waste is handled correctly and that it goes to an authorised destination. Waste documentation supports traceability; it does not by itself prove legal compliance.

Acceptable use

You may read, print and share pages from this site for your own internal or personal use. You may not copy substantial parts of the site into another publication, resell the content, scrape it at scale, or present it as your own. You may not attempt to interfere with the site, its security or its availability, or use it in a way that is unlawful or misleading.

Intellectual property

Text, layout, graphics and tools on this site are owned by or licensed to us unless stated otherwise. Third party names and marks remain the property of their owners. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

Availability and changes

We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted access or that every page is current at the moment you read it. We may change, move or remove content, and we may update these terms. The version published on this page is the version that applies. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, the site and its content are provided as they are. We do not accept liability for loss arising from reliance on general information, from the output of a tool, from a decision to instruct or not instruct a supplier, or from the acts and omissions of any supplier. If you need advice on a specific site, waste stream or legal obligation, take it from someone qualified to give it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless a mandatory rule applicable to you provides otherwise.
